These 2 buildings are relics of a bygone era. In the current game of 2024-2025, you can get everything you need troops-wise without any Great Buildings or barracks, just participate in Events, Battlegrounds, do Settlements or Quantum Incursions.

Each fight/neg in GBG has a chance to win 5 troops
GE still has many chances to win troops from encounters or Relics
Emissaries in Town Hall can make 13 troops per day (x5 emissaries = 65 possible)
Daily purple chest incidents around the city often provide 4 troops each
Event tasks and chests give troops as rewards
Virtually every aspect of the game is spewing troops at a rate most of us find our stocks only ever increase. We win troops faster than we can use them.
I no longer have any Rogue dens/hideouts, no barracks, and no Alcatraz or Stellar Warship either! My city produces over 1000 troops per day from my age and the next age, plus rogues and many other benefits (red and blue boosts, FPs and goods) that put any of the troop producing GB's to absolute shame.
