Explanation:
Flexible Spending Accounts are designed to discount out-of-pocket medical, dental and vision expenses by sheltering your money from taxes. Flex Spending is your own money deducted from your paycheck.
If you are unsure if the Flexible Spending Benefit is for you, please take a look at the Enrollment Kit which explains how the benefit works. Another excellent resource is this booklet called Understanding your Flex Spending
Enrolling:
Flexible Spending Open Enrollment for all benefits-eligible employees occurs in December.
FSA is a calendar year benefit. You must re-enroll each year.
The FSA benefit will begin on January 1.
Claims:
The 2024 maximum health care benefit is $3,200 and the maximum dependent care benefit is $5,000.
A couple of reminders about debit cards (if the benefit is carded):
Debit cards are good for 3 years from the time of issue. Some of you may be receiving new cards this year.
All participants who wish to use the debit card must provide an email address.
There may be a slight delay in new card delivery due to the late date of open enrollment, but all cards will be issued as timely as possible.
