The steering committee should organise a staggered timeline for completion of draft and final committee reports. Start by setting a completion date for the entire process – at least eight weeks before the visit begins – and then work backwards to create the timeline.
Stagger the deadlines for the committee reports. To understand which committees will need the most time, ask the committees to meet early in the process to do a provisional analysis of the Essential Questions and the results of the Preparatory report as it relates to their assigned domain. Committees that find the school is already well aligned with the standards are likely to need less working time than others.
Ensure all committees have the time to plan to take action in areas which they have identified as needing improvement. Build in suitable time between the stages to reflect and consult on the emerging findings and the evidence, ensuring that the evidence has been triangulated. The timeline should follow this order:
Committees for Part 1 and Domain A – submit these responses to CIS no later than eight months prior to the agreed dates for the Team Evaluation for early feedback
Domain C and D Committees
Domain B and E-I Committees
Steering Committee completes Part 3
Complete report submitted to CIS no later than eight weeks prior to the agreed dates for the Team Evaluation
