The evidence suggests that the curriculum is broad, balanced, and sequenced logically to promote student progression and access. A detailed curriculum policy articulates the roles of leaders at different levels in the creation and monitoring of the curriculum. Furthermore, scope and sequence documentation is clear on the breadth of study in different courses according to the syllabus. The school higher leadership team confirmed they have taken steps to align the curriculum between both Arabic and English medium subjects, and this is evident from documentation provided.

Evaluator Response
The school was able to demonstrate clear evidence that the curriculum is thoroughly documented and articulated horizontally and vertically. English medium and Arabic medium subjects have been grouped together to ensure, where possible, similar topics are taught at matching times throughout the academic year. Furthermore, the school has taken steps to align topics to international days of significance and events in the calendar. In response to the ongoing period of distance and hybrid learning in Bahrain, the school has reviewed its curriculum to ensure it is fit for purpose as well as integrating it within the ADL online platform. With having significant periods of learning taking place online, school leaders have surveyed students and were able to demonstrate areas where recommendations from student and parent feedback had initiated considered change to improve this process.
Commendations:
Domain C Standard 2 - The leadership team for consulting parents and students during a curriculum and platform review for distance and hybrid learning which has led to strong levels of student satisfaction.

Evaluator Response
The school has a clearly articulated definition of global citizenship which includes a vision for sustainability through taking action and promoting universal human values.
Conversations with staff, students, and parents confirm that respect is firmly embedded within the culture of the school, emphasizing how this attribute has been developed through both the taught and hidden curriculum. Leaders, in particular curriculum coordinators, have taken proactive steps to align the curriculum with international days of significance and have started to introduce interdisciplinary projects that promote student action. Furthermore, the school has provided students in upper primary grade levels opportunity to demonstrate significant student action through participation in the International Global Citizenship Award (IGCA).
Commendations
Domain C Standard 3 - The pedagogical leadership team for aligning the curriculum to match international days of significance which has resulted in more relevant global learning and greater opportunities for student action.

Evaluator Response
The school has a clear definition of digital citizenship based around the concept of empowering learners of all ages to become future ready. The higher leadership team discussed having already been in talks with an online platform provider prior to the outbreak of COVID-19, and this forward thinking, coupled with immediate support and training for staff, made the pandemic-imposed shift to online distance learning relatively smooth. This view was supported from parent feedback and student satisfaction survey information. Students have adapted to working through this platform and benefit from the flexibility to respond to project based open ended tasks through a digital medium that suits them such as a video or by creating a presentation. However, outside of the use of this platform, which is now primarily for homework and hybrid learning, and the use of the interactive whiteboard in classes, there was very little evidence of technology use by the children themselves. It may be beneficial for the school to explore opportunities to expand the use of technology in lessons in order for students to learn and develop safe and sustainable digital habits.

Evaluator Response
Effective use of platforms such as ADL have enabled students to readily access their lessons and study online materials at their own pace and time. Furthermore, students have been able to submit work in a way that suits their learning style. As evidenced in a satisfaction survey, students are able to communicate quickly with their teachers for any help they may need and to receive individual feedback. Interdisciplinary projects as well as individual and group performance tasks are assessed against rubrics which indicate student strengths and areas for development. The pedagogical leadership team shared that on lesson plans, teachers must identify the key skills being taught in a particular lesson and that frequent informal performance tasks monitor student performance against these objectives. Where trends in student performance or groups of students are seen to be not understanding a particular element of the curriculum intervention booster sessions are delivered to those students.

Evaluator Response
Interviews with the primary pedagogical leadership team confirmed that curriculum coordinators meet weekly with teachers to review and evaluate the curriculum based on the outcomes of lessons. These meetings have a direct impact on future planning, teaching, and learning. During the COVID-19 pandemic, curriculum coordinators revised and streamlined the curriculum to adapt it for a distance learning model. The pedagogical leadership team recognized the need to innovate, such as in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and had researched the Salmon e-learning Five Stage Model to support that transition. Leadership and teacher interviews supported that teachers are able to initiate change and pilot innovations within their classroom, one example shared was trialing the use of Oxford Owl in Grade 2 in response to teacher analysis of reading data.

Evaluator Response
The school curriculum is regulated by the Kingdom of Bahrain Education & Training Quality Authority (BQA) and as such there is limited scope to adapt and design the curriculum. The pedagogical leadership team has, however, revised the breadth of program offered and has looked to provide greater intercultural learning in particular through the interdisciplinary projects and the IGCA award. Although currently limited due to the pandemic, the school offers a broad range of extracurricular activities using paid external providers to complement the curriculum. In surveys and interviews, students demonstrate satisfaction with the curriculum but did suggest the school look at life skills including financial and budgeting lessons. Parents are happy with the breadth of the curriculum but would like for the school to revisit its decision to no longer offer French within the school day, feeling that it is something that will support the future readiness of their children.
