HISTORIC CITY
From the Romans to the present day, it has been shaped as a city with historical, mysterious and intimate corners... that will not disappoint anyone, it invites us to stroll through its streets and alleys to discover its legends and the history that has created it.
THE MUSEUMS
With small big museums: From historical museums, like the one of the Jews, the Archaeology Museum, the City Museum, the Arab Baths...; to cultural museums, like the Art Museum, the Casa Masó Museum, or the Cinema Museum; they make us discover small cultural jewels but at the same time emblematic buildings that contain them.
CULTURAL EVENTS
With exceptional cultural events and own: From the Elefante d'Or Circus Festival where you can enjoy the best shows in the world of the circus. Holy Week, with the procession of the Holy Burial and the Manaies that complement it. Sant Jordi, with the Rambla full of pink books and people who enjoy it. The week of Temps de Flors where we can discover a different old town of Girona, full of flowers and decorations that cannot be seen the rest of the year and that open normally closed private spaces. The theatre, music and dance festival Temporada Alta where shows from all over the world come to delight us with their presentations. Our Fires and Festes of San Narcís where different cultural, sport and musical events take place, as well as antique markets. The Fòrum Gastronòmic, the portal of gastronomy, where every two years this international congress is held with renowned speakers and exhibitors, providing the best of traditional culinary culture and the most avant-garde cuisine. And ending the year with Christmas and the Three Kings of the Orient camp and parade.
THE NATURE OF THE SURROUNDINGS
In the middle of nature: Our four rivers cross and divide the city but at the same time open it to the sky creating open spaces. La Devesa, our big and mysterious green lung to enjoy during each of the seasons of the year; the urban parks where to walk with the family. The mountains around us where we can enjoy a walk or a ride in the middle of nature. All this makes our city breathe fresh air and help us relax and forget about the day to day.
SPORTS
With nature as close as we have it, 10 minutes away you have left the city to go into the Gavarres, it is very easy for people to enjoy sport. Hours of walking, mountain biking with different levels of difficulty and what has most made Girona a sports destination is the arrival of renowned cyclists and cycling clubs who choose to make our province their training centre because of the proximity of the Pyrenees and the Costa Brava. For those who need sports centres, the city has different centres where they can do or train the sport they like best: tennis, swimming pools, athletics tracks, climbing walls, horse riding...
GASTRONOMY AND LEISURE
With the Roca brothers as the best known, with their Celler de Can Roca or their Rocambolesc ice cream parlour and the chocolate factory, and without forgetting all the other great chefs, they make our city a high quality gastronomic destination both for its avant-garde cuisine and its traditional cuisine. And to enjoy moments of pleasure the offer of bars and discos is large and varied.
AND NOT FORGETTING OUR PROVINCE
Surrounded by one of the best provinces in the country. With cities and villages to discover: Figueres, Besalú, Banyoles, Pals, Peratallada ... The Pyrenees and its peaks for walking, skiing, cycling, off-road routes ... The Costa Brava to touch, the best beaches, coves and wild corners where you can enjoy the sun and sand and the sea bottom. And with infrastructures that allow us to have the world closer: fast roads to go to Barcelona and France and to enter central Catalonia, international airport, high speed train ...
