Summer Solstice 1237
Pumilius, Gunther, Orlaith and Valeri (Martin is egg-cited to be alnoe with the eggs) make there way to the entrance to the Glittering Plains. This is the Regio that they think that Einar is using as a bolt-hole. The entrance is a cleft in a south facing valley that opens on the three days bracketing the Summer Solstice. They send the grogs by land to make camp, and swan in in the evening before the opening.
Many wards were set, and sentries posted, but out came there none.
Eventually they decide to creep into the regio, there being no especial means of ingress required. Inside is... just the same small shaft continuing.( Although the Aura has crept up from the outside [a small patch outside the regio hasd Aura 3] to +4). The bare rock has no track upon it. They proceed on foot for a while before giving up and trying to think of another plan.
Another plan came in the form of Gunther in Raven form and Wepwawet running ahead to get arcane connections (fine for the magi: not so fine for the shield grogs) so that those who could leap ahead later could do so. Through experimentation they discovered that the teleportation spells that they had access to would not allow anyone to cross the Regio boundary (but work perfectly well within the regio itself)
Whil attempting an InTe spell to see if anyone had been here recently, Valeri goes into a trance, and eventually emerges with the confident statement that no-ne had been here for a year, and that the tunnell goes on for "quite a while".
With joy in his heart Pumilius graciously offers to stay at the entrance and Valeri Orlaith gunther and Wepwawet run/Leap/fly ahead.
After about what would have been 1 and a half days walking they reach a fork in the path
Orlaith and Valeri take the Eastern path, slowed down by the lack of arcane connections to be able to leap ahead. They walk and walk...
Gunther and Wepwawet take the western tunnel, and after the equivalent of a days walk, they happen on an underground river. The water is caling hot and fast flowing. The Aura rises to +5
For another 2-day equivalent they fly/run and reach a cleft down which the river plunges. The River forms a waterfall down a staircase. This goes down and down and down (2.5 days for a person to slowly and safely climb) until it reaches a roiling cauldron of spume.
Skirting round this mist Gunther could see the Glittering plains at last, a vast fertile and lush plain contained within a dome of rock. The far side is too distant to see, and the roof seems to climb as far as vision allows. THe Aura rises to +8.
Gunther decides that it is probably time to turn back. He reconevenes with wepwawet (who had been left at the top of the waterfall) leap to teh others, and together they scramble back to the entrance before it closes for teh year.
