(Autumn and Winter 1220-1221)
Pumillius convenes a council meeting, among the items decided are
1) That Valeri and Martin should be the Magi to attend the dinner
2) They should try and and come to some accommodation with the locals, esp getting some farmers
3) They should find out where the hell they are...
A the dinner the topic of land use is brought up, and surreptitiously discussing in Latin, Valeri takes the opportunity to sneak outside for a slash, catching Thord Sturluson's eye he manages to cast Perception of the Conflicting motives. He learns that Thord is practically drooling at the thought of a wheat farm on his doorstep. they agree that Sturluson will loan 5 tennant families to help farm the land, and the topic of leasing the farm at the end of the river is broached but not concluded. Valeri asked about the church in the vicinity and Thord points them to brother Francis at the end of the table, a quiet man who is apparently from a small monestary on the north coast of the isthmus, that they share At 64.8 north 355.5 west (near Staps, south of Sneuels Iokul [Snaefellsjokull] (both places are practically the same on that map.)
Francis probably speaks Latin...
After their debrief Pumilius sends a letter to the monastery offering emplyoyment to a qualified scribe, but the reply states that they would rather deal with their Father Confessor (a few weeks later a menidcant priest arrives and ministers to the covenfolk before moving on.
A Second Council meeting is held on the winter solstice, and it is agreed that meetings will be every quarter-day
until the covenant finds its feet.
Pumillius brings up the topic of which Tribunal the Covenant should be part. Valeri want to start a new tribunal, Tethys wants to leave the question in abeyance until after she's dead and Martin doesn't seem to have an opinion. It was agreed that they would deem themselves part of the Novgorod tribunal until it became an issue.
