1.1. Procedures of Teaching
The teaching procedures at UNP Labschool are designed to be interactive and student-centered. Here’s a general outline of the procedures commonly followed in each class session:
The teacher begins the class by setting a welcoming tone, greeting students, and sharing an outline of the day's lesson. The introduction includes an overview of the lesson’s objectives to help students understand what they will learn and why it is important.
The teacher often starts with a brief review of previous lessons to ensure that students are prepared for new content. By asking questions or providing a short recap, the teacher can activate students’ prior knowledge, which helps them connect new information to what they already know.
The teacher presents new topics using various methods, such as lectures, PowerPoint presentations, videos, or interactive demonstrations. During this stage, the teacher explains key concepts, provides examples, and may involve students in short exercises or questions to check understanding.
After presenting new material, the teacher involves students in guided activities where they apply what they have learned. This could include group discussions, problem-solving exercises, or role-playing activities. The teacher circulates around the class, providing assistance and feedback as needed.
Students then complete individual assignments or exercises to reinforce their understanding. This stage allows students to work independently, demonstrating their comprehension and applying knowledge on their own.
At the end of the lesson, the teacher may conduct a quick assessment, such as a quiz or class discussion, to gauge students’ understanding. The teacher then summarizes the key points of the lesson and encourages students to ask questions or share feedback. The session concludes with a reminder of homework or upcoming tasks.
These procedures are flexible and allow teachers to adapt to the needs of the students and the lesson content.
