1.1 Purpose of Practicum
During the SEA Teacher Batch 10 program at the University of Northern Philippines (UNP), I gained many valuable experiences. In addition to enhancing my teaching knowledge and skills, this program introduced me to the culture and educational system in the Philippines. UNP offers a supportive and welcoming environment for international students. The teachers and students are very kind and open, especially the buddies who are always ready to assist and accompany us in adapting to this new environment. They not only support us in academic activities but also introduce us to the local culture and become very meaningful friends throughout the program.
The main purpose of the SEA Teacher practicum was to provide pre-service teachers with practical teaching experience in an international setting. This program aimed to enhance participants' pedagogical skills, cultural awareness, and adaptability in a real classroom environment. By observing and teaching in a foreign school, participants could gain a deeper understanding of different educational systems and methodologies. The practicum also encouraged participants to develop their classroom management and communication skills, preparing them to become well-rounded and globally competent educators.
