Ratheesh T’s work emerges from an acute awareness of the social fractures and political anxieties in contemporary India. His paintings trace how Brahminical patriarchy—long embedded within the social fabric—now takes overt political form through religious communalism. His practice gathers figures who adapt and endure, wearing whatever “costume” survival demands. They may be migrant labourers, mythic archetypes, or ordinary citizens navigating the flux of history, carrying traces of memory and everyday improvisation.

Events such as Kerala’s catastrophic 2018 floods revealed solidarity beyond caste and religion, while the dislocations of the Covid-19 pandemic exposed how a society divided for religious, social, economic reasons, and political goals is unable to connect the links of human values. In these crises, Ratheesh finds tragedy and revelation: the collapse of infrastructure and governance, and the resurgence of resilience and care. Rendered with irony and tenderness, his canvases reveal the fragile interdependence between nature, society, and politics.

സമകാലീനഇന്ത്യയിലെ സാ മൂഹികഛിദ്രങ്ങളിലും രാഷ്ട്രീയോത്ക്കണ്ഠകളിലും നിന്ന് ഉറവെടുക്കുന്നവയാണ് രതീഷ് ടി. യുടെ രചനകൾ. സാമൂഹികഘടനയിൽ കാലാകാലങ്ങളായി ഇഴചേർന്നുകിടന്നിരുന്ന ബ്രാഹ്മണ്യവും ആൺകോയ്മയും, ഇന്ന് മതവർഗ്ഗീയതയിലൂടെ മറനീക്കി പുറത്തുവരുന്നതെങ്ങനെയെന്ന് അവ വരച്ചുകാട്ടുന്നു. പൊരുത്തപ്പെടുന്ന, സഹിക്കുന്ന, നിലനിൽപ്പിനു വേണ്ടതെന്തോ അതെടുത്തണിയുന്ന, രൂപങ്ങൾ രതീഷിൻ്റെ കാൻവാസിൽ ഉടനീളമുണ്ട്. അവർ കുടിയേറ്റത്തൊഴിലാളികളോ പൗരാണികമാതൃകകളോ ആവാം. അല്ലെങ്കിൽ, ഓർമ്മകൾ ചുമന്നും ദിനസരികളൊപ്പിച്ചും ചരിത്രപരിണാമങ്ങളുടെ തണ്ടുവലിക്കുന്ന സാധാരണ പൗരരാണെന്നും വരാം.

2018 ൽ കേരളമാകെ നാശം വിതച്ച പ്രളയം പോലുള്ള സംഭവങ്ങൾ ജാതിമതാദികൾക്കതീതമായ ഐക്യത്തിനു നിദർശനമായെങ്കിൽ, കോവിഡ്-19 മഹാമാരി, മതപരവും സാമൂഹികവും സാമ്പത്തികവും രാഷ്ട്രീയവുമായി ശകലീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ട ഒരു സമൂഹം, എങ്ങനെ അടിസ്ഥാന മാനവികമൂല്യങ്ങളുടെ നിലനിൽപ്പിനുവേണ്ടി പോരാടിയെന്നു കാട്ടിത്തന്നു. രതീഷ്, ആ അന്തരാളഘട്ടത്തിൽ ഒരേസമയം ദുരന്തവും വെളിപാടും വായിച്ചെടുക്കുന്നു. വ്യവസ്ഥകളുടെ സ്തംഭനാവസ്ഥയിൽ പരിചരണബോധത്തിൻ്റെ ആദർശം ഉയർന്നുവരവേ, രതീഷ്ചിത്രങ്ങൾ വിരുദ്ധഹാസ്യത്തിലൂടെയും കാരുണ്യത്തിലൂടെയും പ്രകൃതി, സമൂഹം, രാഷ്ട്രീയം എന്നിവയുടെ ദുർബലമായിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന പരസ്പരാശ്രിതത്വത്തെ പ്രകാശഭരിതമാക്കുന്നു.
