President's Message

I am getting excited about our hosting the 67th Annual District Conference here in Tidewater, April 27-30. Chair, Joanne Baines and Co-Chair Ellen Barta, are doing a fantastic job getting us started. It's going to be an amazing conference!

Please remember to view the Call to Conference in the District Service Bulletin (DSB), which was emailed to all members on January 30th. If you didn't receive it, please look in this newsletter (at the bottom). You will find a lot of information regarding the "Happenings" at Conference.

I am asking you to register as soon as you can, as the Beach College Festival "Something In the Water" is here the same weekend as our conference.

Keep in mind these important deadlines;

-- the hotel will be giving any leftover rooms to people who have tickets for the event, and have nowhere to stay.

--Conference Registration must be completed by March 31st. A late fee will be applied after 31st.

--Hotel Registration must be done by March 27th.

I hope to see you all at our meeting, Monday night, February 20th. If you plan to attend by Zoom, look for an email from Shari on Monday at about 5:30 with a different Zoom link to join our meeting.

I am hoping as many as possible can attend the meeting.

Greetings Altrusans,

What a year it has been! So many things to be grateful for! We have all shared some tender moments to say goodbye to loved ones and to reflect on relationships; an opportunity to express love and kindness to our Altrusa sisters, extended family, and friends. My hope for 2023 is to keep the momentum of sharing kindness and love to all people, no matter how far or near, and to let our light shine brightly! It may be "just a text", but it could be the one connection that person has throughout the day that brings a smile to their face and shakes away the blues! As an Altrusan, that is what we do best!

The new year invites an opportunity for resolutions; I usually have a very hard time keeping them! Please see the link below for some more realistic resolutions that we may just be able to keep! Of course, I like the idea of reading more!

You can hold your room now with no fees. You may cancel 48 hours before the event.

Kathy and her family enjoyed an afternoon at Historic Jamestown. Ethan and Aiden especially liked boarding replicas of the three ships.

Barbara and Don’s family met in Asheville, NC at the home of her daughter Ann. Barbara especially enjoyed spending time with Lucy.

June, Jennifer and family at Massanutten

“Christmas” picture of most of the kids. Max, Ridley, Nolyn (she’s mostly under the covers), Ozzie, and Violet. Fun time at Water World and then a Christmas Dinner at a local Mexican Restaurant and back to the condo for gift exchange and white elephant game. Also celebrated Nolyn’s birthday!
