I look forward to our Club Retreat, June 25, 2022 at Jokell, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Please come with your ideas.

I am your new President for 2022-23. I look forward to leading you for the next two years.

Accent

I hope this message finds you all doing very well!

June is one of my favorite months of the year!

Often, June marks the beginnings of many gatherings and celebrations! June 5th of each year, we acknowledge World Environment Day.

This year's theme is Only One Earth.

"World Environment Day puts a global spotlight on the pressing environmental challenges of our times. This UN international day has become the largest global platform for environmental outreach, with millions of people from across the world engaging to protect the planet”.

Please click here for additional information about World Environment Day.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all over the summer and please enjoy this poem by Nora M. Bozeman.

All the Best,

Tracey

Committee Reports

Service Committee: Joanne & June, Co-Chairs

Service Hours: If you like to submit your service hours as you do them, Shari has added an updated form for this 22-23 club year. Service completed from June 1, 2022 to May 30, 2023 can be submitted on this form. You can access it from the website or click here.

On a HOT Saturday morning on the 21st of May, 10 Altrusans set-up, priced, haggled, and sold many previously loved items. At the end of the day, $591 was made to benefit World Central Kitchen. Then we all went home and took a nap. 🤣

Our Green Run Elementary Reading continued on May 26, 2022! Deb and Ellen had students learning lessons from Pete the Cat.

Deb shared a joyful moment when a young man opened the door and spread his arms in welcome. Their word of the day was Kindness and he embodied that! We had time for 2 stories. Pete the Cat and Magic Sunglasses. And an African story that Deb does so well!

Thank you from Green Run Elementary School teachers for the recognizing Teacher Appreciation Week in May.

Book Challenge!

Tidewater surpassed District Two's goal for the number of books collected! Well Done!

International Project Update: Barbara Speight provided an update at the May meeting. Schools in the Philippines are opening up slowly, at half-time. We will be moving forward soon on the final part of this project.

Reminder! Club 21 dues need to be paid online. Use this link to update your personal Club 21 dues to support International Foundation.

Tidewater's Member Update

Summertime and the living is easy thanks to my club's generous gifts. In the background, you may see the red geranium and on the patio table, I added a solar-lit blue umbrella.

Thank you for working with me to survive the pressures of the pandemic and the January loss of my partner, Larry . (Picture was taken on our 52nd anniversary - July 4, 2021.)

~Ellen, Past President 2021-22

Robyn worked hard all five hours of the yard sale where we earned nearly $600!

Surprise, surprise! June received a birthday greeting from her grandkids, Ozzie, Max and Nolyn

Several of us went to Linh's baby shower. Barbara and Don also attended.

Barb and Don visited France!

The last weekend of April, Barbara and Don got to babysit baby Lucy in New Orleans while her parents attended a wedding. Saturday everyone went to The New Orleans Heritage and Jazz Fest. Sunday Barb and Don went to the WWII Museum. A great weekend. They want to go back to NOLA for more beignets and Jazz.

Thank you!

I want to thank everyone for the support of my upcoming trip to Kenya and Ethiopia. I appreciate the help and donations as well as the well-wishes! I can’t wait to share the reusable pads with the girls who are used to missing school during that time of the month. The panties and bras will probably be the first new ones they have ever received. The talking watches will be thrilling for those with visual impairment. The flash drives are wonderful for the students to store their technology work. If I forgot anything, I apologize. You all are so generous and I will share lots of pictures as I travel! Thanks again!
