President's Message

Thanksgiving is approaching us soon. We have a lot to be thankful for. We have a strong club, dedicated members and projects.

Our Annual Bazaar is Saturday 12/3. Please let Ellen, our bazaar chair, know how you'll be participating and bring your gift cards to the next meeting.

For you that are making things for our bazaar, can you bring some of your items to the meeting for Show and Tell?

A big thanks to our Deb Davis for her video at our Fall Workshop. We were able to see her three videos and her personal message regarding the Mirror of Hope Foundation, which she supports.

I hope to see you at the November 20th Meeting.

Sherral

Greetings Altrusans!

I hope this message finds you doing very well. November has begun with beautiful, Fall weather, cool evenings, and breezy days. It is exciting to look forward to Thanksgiving and all the other festivities that are just around the corner.

Locally and Internationally, Altrusa acknowledges The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. On November 25, 2022 we proudly support this day through our unstoppable commitment to supporting women around the world. Please see the link below for additional information:

https://pmnch.who.int/news-and-events/events/item/2022/11/25/international-days/international-day-for-the-elimination-of-violence-against-women---2022

As Altrusans, we understand the importance of protecting and encouraging women in all areas of their lives. “Mamie L. Bass created the Principles of Altrusa which defined Altrusa as "a builder of women" and an organization based on merit and accomplishment. The Principles were officially adopted in 1921 along with a major club building effort. By 1922, Altrusa had 20 clubs”.

Thank you for all you do every day!

All the Best,

Tracey Garbers

Service Hours: If you like to submit your service hours as you do them, Shari has added an updated form for this 22-23 club year. Service completed from June 1, 2022 to May 30, 2023 can be submitted on this form. You can access it from the website menu or click here.

Socktober was a big hit! Members kicked off October’s sock drive by donating several large bags of socks collected at our October 17th meeting. Hundreds more socks were collected as part of an outreach to local school communities who joined Altrusa in the effort to support “Stand Up For Kids”. Participating schools included Strelitz International Academy, Kempsville Middle School, and New Castle Elementary. Nearly 4,000 socks were donated in total.

Tracey is so proud of her school where they collected 1,311 pairs of new socks!
