OBITUARY OF ROY ALSUP, Jonesboro, Arkansas Newspaper, August 4, 1998

Roy M. Alsup, 93, of Caraway, Ark., died Tuesday in Lane's Nursing home. He was born in Camden, Tenn. He was a retired employee of the Wall Comonoy Corp, and was a member of the Caraway Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Lena Alsup of Caraway; two sons, Archie Russell Alsup of Benton Ky., and Bill Fletcher Alsup of West Memphis, Ark. four daughters, Marie Medsker of Searcy, Ark, Bonnie McCord of Black Oak, Ark, Ruth Hillhouse of Caraway, Ark, and Melita Dougherty of Monahan, Texas; One sister, Louise Jones of Benton, KY.; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning at 10 a.m. in the Caraway Church of Christ, with John Shadowens officiating. Burial will follow in the Caraway Cemetery, under the direction of Langford's Funeral Service of Jonesboro, Ark. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 this evening at the church.

William Ford was murdered one evening while returning from work. He was a worker for the railroad. While walking down the street not far from his home someone struck him from behind with a pipe or a large stick, killing him.


Obituary: Paducah Evening Sun, Friday, 19 1915

William Ford, 45 year old, an Illinois Central railroad blacksmith, died at 6:15 o'clock Thursday evening of concussion of the brain at his home, 1617 Clay Street. Ford fell at Ninth Street and Broadway Thursday night about 8:30 o'clock, striking his head on the street. He was taken into the Walker's drug store and later removed to his home. He was born in Harlan County and had lived in Paducah for 14 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Susie Ford, and an 18 month old son. Two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Hale of St. Louis, and Mrs. Bell Athington of Benton, and two brothers, George Ford of Kansas and Sam Ford of Paducah, also survive. The funeral will be held from the residence at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon with burial in Oak Grove cemetery.

William David "Duke" Alsup, 75, of Forrest City, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at his home. Mr. Alsup was born Aug. 1, 1927, in Palestine, the son of Robert "Bob" Alsup and Florence Dover Alsup. He lived in St. Francis County for most of his life and was retired from Yale Hoists.

Mr. Alsup married Laverne Johnson in 1957, and she survives him along with one daughter, Jolene Cummings of Pine Tree; three sons, David Alsup of Palestine, Robert Alsup of Fox Lake, Ill., Alfred Johnson of Kingsdome City, Mo.; one sister, Helen Lowe of Waynesville, N.C.; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Alsup will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held graveside on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Bell Cemetery. Stevens Funeral is in charge of all arrangements.

He lived in Palestine most of his life and was retired from Yale Industries and also attended the Palestine Church of Christ.

Mr. Alsup is survived by two sons, Bobby G. "Bo" Alsup of Caldwell and Darrell Alsup of Colt; two daughters, Peggy Hickman of Summerfield, Fla. and Penny Sullins of Palestine; a brother Duke Alsup of Palestine; two sisters, Helen Lowe and Joann Messer, both of North Carolina and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Robin Nicole Humes.

Visitation for Mr. Alsup will be held Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home with burial following in Marrs Hill Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
