The just debts will be paid out of the proceeds of my land which is 80 acres, after the death of my widow. After the payment of my funeral expenses which considering the smallness of my effects ought to be very moderate, and after the payment of my just debts, which at this time are less that twenty dollars, I desire that my property, which consists of a small amount of personal property and about eighty acres of land, be held and kept in possession by my widow until her death. After her death, and the payment of my just debts, if there may be any, I then desire, first, that my daughter Susan C. T. Hall have one bed and $50. (fifty dollars) before any division. HENDERSON-PRATT MARRIAGE RITES, Pocahontas, AR., July 1, 1977

Miss Vanessa Jane Henderson and Gary Don Pratt exchanged wedding vows at 7:30 p.m. July 1, at First Baptist Church of Pocahontas in a double ring ceremony with the Rev. Curtis B. Smith officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon C. Henderson of Pocahontas. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Morgan of Pocahontas and Mrs. Rena Henderson of Shamrock, Texas and the late Vernon A. Henderson. The groom is the son of Lucien Pratt of Little Rock and the late Mrs. Lorene Raglin Pratt. He is a grandson of Mrs. Laura Raglin and the late Tommy Raglin.

Music was provided by Miss Patricia Mansker of Pocahontas. Miss Teresa Davis of Youngstown, Ohio, kept the bride's book. The sanctuary was decorated with baskets filled with carnations and gladioli accented in blue ribbons with spiral candelabras at each end of the alter and an arch of candles in the center.

The bride who entered with her father down the center aisle, was radiant in her traditional floor length gown of bridal satin with empire waistline bodice overlayed with lovely lace and long lace sleeves with pearl buttons. The long veil of illusion was trimmed with scalloped lace held in place at the crown with a comb. She carried a cascade of white daisies with white satin streamers. The bride's dress was made for her as a wedding gift by Mrs. James Anderson, a friend of the family.

Miss Brenda Gentry of Pocahontas was maid of honor. Miss Joy Lance of Pocahontas served as bridesmaid. They wore matching floor length gowns of baby blue quianta fashioned with white lace and matching white hats. Little Miss Erin Roberts of Pocahontas served as flower girl. She wore a floral print dress with matching hat and carried a basket filled with daisies. Harlon Junior Ragsdale of Pocahontas served the groom as best man. Vernon Henderson, Jr., of Pocahontas, brother of the bride, served as groomsman and usher, and Alfred Dixon of Pocahontas, also served as usher. Dwayne Anderson of Pocahontas served as ringbearer.

A reception immediately followed in the Fellowship Hall of the church. The three-tiered cake which rested atop a lighted water fountain and was topped with a miniature bride and groom, was served by Mrs. William Davis. White sherbet punch was served from a crystal bowl by Mrs. Lonnie Long. Additional hostesses were Mrs. James Anderson, Mrs. Al Dunn, Mrs. Bill Tracy and Mrs. Arlo Tyer, all of Pocahontas.

Before leaving for her wedding trip the bride changed into a lovely beige knit dress. Mr. and Mrs. Pratt are both 1977 graduates of Pocahontas High School. After a short wedding trip the couple will reside at Rt. 1, Walnut Ridge, where the groom will resume his position as a farmer.

The St. Augustine Record, Thursday, July 6, 1976, St. Augustine, Fla.

WEDDING VOWS-18TH CENTURY STYLE

Nearly two weeks ago, when Geni Lynn Carey and Gregg Hilbert decided to get married, they agreed that "we wanted to be different," young Geni says of their wedding. So they decided to have their wedding rings made, and went to see silversmith Larry Donlon at the Sim's Silversmith Shop on Cuna street. Not only did Donlon accommodate then with hand made silver wedding rings, but he gave them a great suggestion for a wedding theme as well.

That's why, Wednesday night when Geni became Mrs. Gregg Hilbert, she did so in an 18th century ceremony, performed in the restoration area's Hispanic Gardens. Jim Connor, minister of the Free-Life Church, chartered in California, was to have officiated. He couldn't, so Pat Chuhran, a notary public, filled in for Connor. And, if it hadn't been for the help of everyone, especially those from the Historic St. Augustine Preservation Board, the whole thing wouldn't have been possible, the newlyweds emphasize.

First of all, Cam MacRae, visitor services supervisor, arranged for the 18th century dress the bridal party wore. And, Dr. Tony Ganong, acting director of the Historic St. Augustine Preservation Board, made arrangements for the ceremony to be performed in the picturesque gardens. Members of the East Florida Rangers Fife and Drum Corps and the 60th Regiment of Foot pitched in by helping and provided period dress, and Patti Rang, whose daughters and husband are members of the fife and drum corps volunteered to gather the wildflowers.

Colee's Carriages provided a brown wicker horse-drawn carriage in which the bridal couple rode to the reception and the reception was hosted by Lehman Wood, proprietor of the Milltop, near the city gate. Wood offered the couple and their guests use of the Milltop for the celebration. Music for the occasion was provided by guitarist Jeff Traintime. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Carey, 463 Arricola Ave. and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. John E. Hilbert, 169 W. King St.

Given in marriage by her brother, Jim Carey, Geni wore a formal dress like those of 200 years ago. From the preservation wardrobe, the outfit was of blue and gold print, with a fitted bodice and full skirt worn over a 12 yard underskirt and blue petticoat. Her headdress was of two miniature rosebuds, and she carried a basket of wildflowers. Gayle Ann Carey, the brides sister, was honor attendant. She too wore a gown from the preservation wardrobe, this one with floral bodice and green petticoat. Matching green bows served as her headdress and she carried a basket of handpicked wild flowers. Flower girls, Krista and Kelly Culbert, Fremont, Ohio, also attended the couple.

The bridegroom was attired in a uniform supplied by the 60th Regiment of Foot, and so was the best man, Dallas Ward. The brother of the bride wore an 18th century ranger uniform. The newlyweds will reside at 463 Arricola Ave, following a wedding trip. The bride is employed at Teepee Town, and the bridegroom will soon be entering the service.

Pedestrian killed in hit and run

A pedestrian was ran over and killed near Crescent Beach Saturday night, and the driver of the car has been charged with fleeing the scene. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Gregg Hilbert, 46, 1205 East State Road 206, was crossing State Road A1A on foot when the 1971 Chevrolet pickup driven by Austin William Mills, 57, 269 S. The trooper investigating the accident said Mills had just pulled out of the parking lot and was heading north when his car hit Hilbert. He allegedly drove on without stopping. The accident happened just south of A1A and S. R. 206. Hilbert was declared dead at the scene. Witnesses provided a description of the hit-and-run vehicle. That led to the arrest of Mills at a DeSoto Road address shortly after the accident.
