 District officers facilitate and coordinate Unit knowledge-sharing and best practices. The District serves as a conduit of information from the Department (state-level) to Units regarding events, obligations, news and guidelines. Officer terms follow the fiscal year, July 1 to June 30.

ALL PUBLIC EVENTS ARE LISTED ON DISTRICT 26 CALENDAR

UNIT 82, 130 SOUTH BLVD., SAN MATEO

Apr: U82 donated $250 towards their local PAL program and invites all Units to contribute; D26 donated $50 towards PAL as well. Long-time member Cora Jean Kleppe passed away.

Jan: 2/9 monthly dinner (no Jan dinner), 6:30pm St. Patrick’s Day early event. 2/18 Movie night.

Dec: Plans in the works for a movie night in February.

UNIT 105, 651 EL CAMINO REAL, REDWOOD CITY

Apr: 4/20 Post hosted SM County Blue Star Moms' packing day with Auxiliary, Forrest Financial, BSM, and National Charity League participating. Picture on D26 home page. Peggy & Cindy represented D26 & U105 at the San Mateo County Veterans Commission "Veterans Service Providers Symposium" along with 150+ attendees.

Mar: 3/15 Home Depot volunteers gave the Post a 'facelift' by sprucing up the exteriors with plants, furnishings, and painting much of the interior. 3/30 Post hosted Vietnam Veterans of America's Car Show. Coming 5/11 is P105's own Car Show with main sponsor Boardwalk car dealerships; expect food for purchase, 100+ cars, and live entertainment.

Feb: 3/5 Post converts to a Vote Center. Girls State schools: Sequoia, Nueva and Design Tech. Members attended Redwood City Council meeting in support of lowered Park fees for the new Post building. Held NFL conference and Super Bowl parties. 

Jan: Activities included: newest member donating gifts to Dept. Baby Shower for Travis AFB families, San Mateo High's musical "The Wedding Singer," 2/11 Super Bowl Party, and Mar 5 Post becomes a Vote Center. Tues/Thur Bingo nights benefit Santa Clara Vanguard Drum & Bugle Corps and the Post (win-win).

Dec: Delivered D26's holiday gifts to the VA on 12/10 and served desserts. 12/16 participated in Wreaths Across America at Golden Gate National Cemetery, and 12/19 wrapped free gifts for veterans' children for VA's Toys for Vets program.

UNIT 238, 555 BUEL AVENUE, PACIFICA

Apr: New officers elected: President Janice; VP Dray; Secretary Lisa; and Treasurer Linda. 4/15 Purple Up Day for Military Family Month. 7/5: Beach Cleanup scheduled. Next mtg U238 collecting donations for CVV. Memorial Day Ceremony & hotdogs; ALA sponsoring a wreath for the ceremony. Doretta’s Memorial is May 5 at the Moose Lodge. CAGS Delegates from Pacific Bay Christian, Terra Nova and Oceana Highs. 

Mar: Doretta's estate donated 100s of pens for Girls State. 4/20: U238 & Mizpah will have a Rummage Sale, 10am-2pm. Fireworks sale approved.

Jan/Feb: Feb 11 St. Valentine’s Day potluck with Legion and Mizpah Fellowship and raffle benefit Girls State & Boys State Coed programs. Five boxes of CDs, DVDs and books for Colma Veterans Village residents.  

Dec: Participated in & donated to Wreaths Across America at Golden Gate National Cemetery, donation made to the Pacifica Resource Center and the USO. Special Pacific Senior Center donation made in memory of Doretta Youngdahl, 103, who passed away. Prepping annual St. Valentine's Day benefit for Girls State and TAL Boys & Girls State. Collecting books, DVDs and CDs for Colma Veterans Village.

UNIT 472 GEORGE TADLOCK VIRTUAL UNIT

Feb: Next Panda Express funraiser are on Mar 7 and May 10. Unit donated two diaper bags for the Department baby shower. As of Jan 31, membership at 97%. Many would like to join but are struggling with DD214 or other proof.   We are hoping to have schools/classes participate in our Americanism essay contest--essays due Feb 15. Melissa A & Val H provided books at Christmas for every 1st and 2nd grader at a low income school; 800 students were served. 

Jan: Upcoming Panda online fundraisers are Mar 7 and May 10. Managing Youth Essay contest. Donated books to 1st & 2nd graders at a low-income school, serving 800 students.

Dec: Annual online Ugly Christmas Sweater party. 12/19 Panda Express online fundraiser, use Code 917729 to benefit Unit 472.

UNIT 474 COASTSIDE, 470 CAPISTRANO RD., HALF MOON BAY 

Jan: Held NFC v AFC game party and holding Super Bowl party as well. Feb 10 Festival de Corozon Festival of Hearts: music, Sidewalk Shakespeare (10am-5pm). Feb 12 Super Bowl Party.

Dec: Made $250 donations to each org: ALAS (benefiting farm workers, named state of CA nonprofit of the year), HOPE, Sea Huggers, and Coastside Adult Day Care. Free Christmas dinner benefited 70-80 ppl. Celebrated with prime rib and darts on NYE.

UNIT 585 LLOYD J. TOBEY, 1159 BUSH STREET, SAN CARLOS

Mar: 3/3 breakfast; next on 4/7. Super Bowl chili cookoff was a success. 3/8 Karaoke this Friday. Mar 17 Corned beef sandwiches lunch. Changed from 4/13 to 4/20: ALA 6pm Italian dinner fundraiser. Planning a booth for 5/18 San Carlos Hometown Day.

Jan: Donated $100 worth of clothing towards DEC Baby Shower benefiting Travis AFB. 2/4 next breakfast. 3/3 breakfast. Super Bowl & Chili Cookoff. 4/13 ALA 6:30pm dinner fundraiser. 

Dec: Tree-trimming party included pizzas purchased by the U585, Ugly Sweater party (Bonnie won again), and NYE party included live music.
