Scholarship Searches

Scholarships can help to offset the cost of college. There are three main categories of scholarships: college, local and national. When beginning your search, start with those scholarships offered by the college and local scholarships. Students may want to also branch out to national scholarship searches, however they tend to be more competitive because they draw from a wider pool of talented candidates.

1. College Scholarships: Check the website of the college you are applying to for scholarships offered to incoming freshman, those based on G.P.A. and test scores (merit), leadership, service, athletic ability and/or major. There is also a running list located in Naviance.

2. Local Scholarships: (see binder in Mrs. Desmond's office and the Scholarship spreadsheet posted below).

· School or Church Scholarships (Knights of Columbus, Diocesan)

· Community Organizations (Boy/ Girl Scouts, 4-H, Elks, BCSN)

· Employer (Chick-Fil-A, CVS, McDonalds)

3. National Scholarships Databases

On-line Scholarships (Classical, Latin, or Career Organizations)

* Scholarships are often awarded based upon merit, sports, being a first generation college student and /or being a member from an underrepresented group.

Scholarship Requests

Students who are in need of accompanying documents for scholarship applications such as a transcript or letter of recommendation must complete the " Gold Form" and submit it to the Counseling Center TWO WEEKS BEFORE any given deadline.
