Students looking to enter the military immediately after high school must take steps well in advance of graduation to plan their future. Discussions concerning military service are advisable no later than the sophomore year of high school. Processing should be completed the summer before senior year.
** The outline of the process below shows an example of the steps that Army applicants must complete:
a. Interview with recruiting service;
b. Complete application and qualification requirements;
c. Complete testing by taking the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) and physical;
The ASVAB results can take up to 14-21 days
The ASVAB can be re-taken after one month
Results often determine job placement in the military (first come, first served)
d. Enlist into Delayed Entry Program;
e. Ship to training upon completion of all high school requirements and graduation.
