Mrs. Desmond was born and raised in Southern California. She attended and graduated from Christendom College in Front Royal, VA where she completed her undergraduate studies, majoring in Political Science and Economics.
Anastasia later completed her graduate studies at Bowling Green State University earning a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, an Ohio state teacher licensure in Integrated Social Studies (7-12) and a Reading Endorsement (K-12). She has over 16 years of teaching experience in a variety of disciplines and over eight years of swim coaching experience.
Anastasia has served as a STRONG Certified Career Counselor for six years and completed her College Access Counseling Certification through Rice University.

The purpose of college counseling is to assist the student and their family in navigating their way through the college application, selection and acceptance process.
The college counselor has four primary roles that consist of functioning as the:
Matchmaker: Students are encouraged to create their own list of possible college matches junior year. Concurrently, the Counselor will meet with students to survey, conference and supply a list of 5 possible colleges that may interest them based upon their survey responses. (1- Reach, 3 Match, 1-Safety)
Counselor in Good and Bad Times: Students have lofty goals which sometimes end in dreams being realized or disappointment. The school counselor will be there to support students regardless of what the situation warrants.
Admissions and Financial Aid Communicator and Interpreter: The counselor will provide students with information and resources on how to pay for college via FAFSA, in addition to access to scholarship opportunities etc.
Shepherd: As a shepherd, the Counselor will coach families and schedule meetings as needed to check in on their progress with applications, essays, letters of recommendation and transcript requests. The Counselor will also communicate sentinel deadlines such as November 1st, March 1st and May 1st.
