We've all got so much to learn

The world is changing fast

The pace of change in the world today has never been faster. This applies in all aspects of our lives but the greatest influence over the change has been the internet, and this has accelerated the change.

Information, knowledge, expertise and experiences can be shared in an instant locally, regionally, nationally and across the world. Social media has enabled like minded people to come together as never before and the internet has created a world where nothing can be hidden for long and yet we cannot be sure what we are reading is necessarily true either.

Modern tools can assist us in creating the world that we want to live in... but we have to know how to use them...

Participation & Contribution

Participation and contribution with others in a changing world is made easier if we are familiar with tools that can serve us. Communities (including business communities) exist not only physically but also virtually and we can connect in ways that have never been possible before.

Yes we can still talk with the people, send letters , telephone and email... but we can also use Instant messaging, Facebook Groups, Google Communities, WhatsApp, Skype, Hangouts, and many more tools to aid our communication with those in our communities.

We can connect with others around the country or across the world and find out what they are doing with similar or aligned projects. Learning from each other and finding new collaborative partners.

To progress our project(s) will become progressively more dependent on our ability to use the tools. Not all of them will be relevant but it is down to us to up our game and find out how to use those that will work best for us.

Face the fear and do it anyway

For many the thought of going back to school and learning new technology skills is like staring into the abyss. A dark art that 'clever technically competent people' have learned and who can deliver for us without needing to take the plunge.

Sorry, but this is like asking someone else to have your conversations for you. The only person that can engage for you is you... your true authentic self, how can you expect someone else to be you? 2 billion people use this technology. It's not difficult, it just takes a bit of knowledge and practice.

First find out what new skills could serve you. Then narrow this down to those that could deliver the quickest results. Then learn the skills and apply with intent, with purpose. If you do this you will be in the top 10% of technology users.

What works for you...

Like many things which have been standardised or homogenised we are now beginning to realise that 'one size' doesn't fit all. Actually we all need individual attention because we are all individual and unique.

So it is with training and education. We are all at different stages of our understanding. We operate our businesses and other endeavours differently. Some things might be relevant others not. Establishing which tools can enhance what we do, coupled with the time and resources available to us is crucial in determining how to progress what 'works for you...'
