HTS 5th Grade Friday Update!

Happy Friday

We welcomed Ethan, our new student from Zimbabwe, to our 5th grade group this week! The students have been awesome in making him feel right at home and we're all having fun getting to know him.

We are midway through our unit on Volume (and expect to assess late next week); outlines for our biographies are taking shape; the middle colonies are being explored, and earth systems are being discovered.

And please be sure to complete the Day of Service Form to indicate your child’s t‑shirt size for our annual Day of Service on Friday, April 10th.

Forensic Club Sign-Up: An Invitation from our Tech & Science Teachers

Join Our Forensics Club (For students in grades 4-5)! The Forensics Club is a competitive speech team, in which students will participate in a variety of speech and drama activities to prepare and share. Forensics activities include interpretative reading and persuasive speeches. Each week in our club, we will play games to warm up, engage in presentation skills, and enjoy healthy competition with our class. If you are interested in improving your public speaking skills then this club is for you!

Our time will be used in the club working on articulation, expression, confidence, and projection. Hopefully, with weekly practice, our students will learn to become more confident speakers in class and in everyday life.

If you are interested, we will be holding a meeting for the students before school on Thursday, January 22 at 7:40 am in Ms. Betts’ room (MS206). Weekly meetings will be held on Thursdays before school from 7:40-8:10 am.
