It was a very busy week in 5th Grade!
The week started with the 9th annual Kids Helping Kids fundraiser. 5th graders helped to facilitate the school-wide walk-a-thon that was attended by all grades. With the help of generous donors and participants, we exceeded our fundraising goal of over $3,000! The 5th Graders worked hard, and had a positive attitude and upbeat spirit throughout the event! It was a core memory day for sure!
Wednesday night's STEAM Fair was a huge success! It was wonderful to see so many students and parents there, and we are so glad you got to see all of the amazing projects your children have been working on all year.
In the classroom, we have officially started our final science unit of the year: Matter. Students are beginning to explore the 3 states of matter. We also introduced our Genius Hour Passion Projects, in which students research a topic they are interested in and create a product that can help improve the world. In social studies, we are creating political cartoons during the Boston Tea Party. We are still working on our Fantasy Unit in ELA. We are making our way through our read-aloud Impossible Creatures and are exploring key components of fantasy stories (Aha moments, a hero's journey)
We hope you have a great long weekend!
