Day 14

QR CODE FLIPGRID VIDEO ORNAMENTS

(AND MANY MORE IDEAS!)

I've always believed that we should encourage our students to work with their hands, while not deterring them from creating digitally. This simple idea will help bring your holiday messages to life, while also giving children the opportunity to make something special and unique for their families and friends. In addition to being an awesome web tool and app for empowering student voice, Flipgrid can be used as a stand alone simple video editor by using the Flipgrid Shorts camera. Follow the steps below to record your video, share it with a QR code, and then create a Christmas ornament as a gift.

STEP #1:

Create a Flipgrid account and access the Shorts camera through a laptop, desktop, or Chromebook. Learn more about the Shorts camera here: https://help.flipgrid.com/hc/en-us/articles/360053334593-Shorts-create-here-share-anywhere-%7D

STEP #2:

Use a variety of features to create your holiday message video. You can record your video through Flipgrid or upload a video that you created through another program. Visit the Flipgrid Level #1 ebook for more detailed directions if you have never used Flipgrid before.

STEP #3:

Press the blue SHARE button to share your video. Click the pink button to the left to access the QR code for this video. Download your QR code.

STEP #4:

Now it's time to be creative! You can make an ornament out of paper, and decorate it with glitter, markers, rhinestones, ribbons, buttons...ANYTHING! Attach the QR code to the ornament with tape or glue.

STEP #5:

Give the ornament or send it to a family member or a friend. Include a note about how to scan the Flipgrid QR code through the Flipgrid app (Apple or Android) or through any other QR code scanner app.

Here are some other fun ways to use Flipgrid QR codes...
