Health and Physical Education

HL Health H7401 (.5 credit) Grade 9  This is a required credit for freshmen.  - This is not a PE credit.
REQUIRED CREDIT FOR GRADUATION


This subject will describe and analyze health issues.  The student will be exposed to developing an awareness of a healthy lifestyle.  It is intended to provide a greater knowledge of social, physical, and psychological personal health topics.


PE Physical Education I Girls H7011/Boys H7012 (.5 credit) Grade 9


This class will be taken in conjunction with Health.  Emphasis in this class will be increasing the overall fitness and physical activity of each individual.  A variety of activities including group and individual will be introduced.  Dressing out in gym clothes and participation are required.


PE Physical Education II H7113 (1 credit) Grade 10, 11, 12


PE II is a physical education class that will explore different types of fitness activities to lead to a healthier life choice. Students will also learn and explore team and/or individual sports and various recreational activities. Dressing out in gym clothes and participation are required.


PE Beginning Weights (1 credit)  Grade 9, 10, 11, 12


This is a beginning weights class for those students who are new to weights.  The purpose of this class is to provide an opportunity for individuals who would like to develop muscular and cardiovascular fitness.  




PE Strength and Conditioning  : Regular Weights (prior knowledge of weights)(1 credit)  Grade 9, 10, 11, 12

The purpose of this class is to provide an opportunity for individuals who would like to develop muscular and cardiovascular fitness.  Circuit training, polymeric, and a running program may be incorporated into this class to develop total fitness.


PE Strength and Conditioning:  Athletic Strength and Conditioning (Athletes who are advanced in weights).  This will be based on teacher recommendation.  ( 1 credit) Grade 10, 11, 12)

PE Aerobics H7115 (.5 credit)  Grade 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite: Completion of PE I


This class is designed to create opportunities for wellness and fitness for individuals who do not enjoy the sports setting. A variety of exercises will be performed including yoga, kickboxing, Zumba, Pilates, HIIT and brisk walking.



PE Team Sports 7113H (1 credit)  Grade 10, 11, 12 ** Limited to 25 students


This course is designed for students interested in competitive team sports. This course will include daily skill instructions and implementation of those skills into a competitive game setting. It is strongly recommended that students enjoy competitive sports. A variety of sports will be played including basketball, volleyball, kickball, dodgeball, ultimate Frisbee, flag football, team handball.
