PF Personal Finance H5431 (.5 credit) Grade 11, 12
This course is designed to introduce students to the concepts of: jobs & careers, budgeting, banking and finance, credit, comparison shopping, buying a car, home buying versus renting an apartment, investment opportunities and purchasing various types of insurance. Various speakers will talk to students about the subjects listed.

El Yearbook H1094 (1 credit) Grade 11, 12 **Limited to 12 students
Prerequisite- English I & II. Must fill out an application for acceptance, must have a 95% attendance rate.
Students in the yearbook class will be taking photos and organizing them in a digital format to create the student yearbook. Students will be required to attend after school events to capture photos. Students will be required to sell ads in and around Versailles and Laurie.
El Mass Media H1093 (1 credit) Grades 11, 12 (10th by teacher recommendation only)
Prerequisite- Preference to those who have taken Intro to Photography, Grade average of C or higher in Honors I/II or English I/II, have good keyboarding/computer skills. MUST fill out an application and have 90% attendance or higher for acceptance.
Students will be actively engaged with various forms of media in order to understand the processes and theories associated with Mass Media. This course is designed to give students a basic understanding of journalism and newspaper writing techniques. Students will engage in the process of researching stories, writing articles, editing, and will utilize Canva to layout multiple issues of a digital newsletter to create graphics for various school events. Creative writing and time management are very important skills to have for this course.
EL School-to-Work H5426 (1 credit) Grade 11, 12
Prerequisite- All students must have a job when school starts. NO seasonal jobs accepted.
This course is designed to allow a student to experience and explore actual employment by observing and participating in a business of interest. The student must work ten hours per credit at the work site. The grade for this class will include graded classroom activities, pay stubs, and time sheets. The school to work teacher will be in contact with the employer frequently. Seniors have preference in enrolling. Job must be at a legitimate business. IF you lose your job during the semester you will have 2 weeks to find another job, if no job is found in the 2 week time period you will not be allowed to leave school grounds and will lose participation points.
EL Tutoring H6000 (.5 credit) Grade 11, 12 and approved by instructor* ** Limited to 8 students per class per semester.
Prerequisite- GPA MUST BE 2.3, HAVE 90% ATTENDANCE or approval from the counselors
*This class will be graded as pass/fail, you will not receive a letter grade. Upperclassmen and students with no tutoring hours will fill the slots first.
The student must have completed the A+ Schools Program required paperwork to be eligible for the class. Students will be required to tutor during the assigned block and will be expected to keep a log of the tutoring hours accumulated which is to be signed by the cooperating teacher. This is an excellent way to get all 50 hours of tutoring required for A+ Schools done in one semester. Students may only take this twice unless approved by the counselor. Good citizenship is required.
EL Drivers Education H5990 (.5 credit) Grades: 9,10,11,12
This course is designed to meet the minimum instruction standards of the National Conference on Safety Education as prescribed by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, which includes sixty hours of classroom instruction. This course will assist students in building a firm foundation of knowledge and skill for safe and efficient driving. The purpose of Driver Education is to produce better driving citizens by developing familiarity with the vehicle’s operation and maintenance; knowledge of traffic laws, signs, and controls; ability to cope with hazardous or emergency situations: and safe driving practices based upon all these, plus the rights of others. Units on emotions, attitudes, drugs, and alcohol will also be covered.
EL Academic Lab H1000 (1 credit)
Prerequisite- teacher, administrator or counselors recommendation only.
The mission of Academic Lab is where a student can receive academic support while enhancing the academic experience for all students. Academic Lab is a period of time set aside during the school day for students to work on correspondence and independent study course work, time allowed to work on dual credit courses and/or to obtain credit to graduate early. Academic Lab is a privilege that may be withdrawn if a student does not follow the rules and expectations established for the educational opportunity. You must have at least 3 core classes or take more than 1 dual credit classes or corresponding courses and no teachers aid/library aid to enroll in this course.
EL Assisted studies H0602 (1 elective credit)
Students are selected for this program by referrals made by teachers, administrators, counselors and parents.
The assisted studies program is designed to assist students in all academic areas. The program targets students who are currently failing classes in one or more subjects and are not on track to graduate. Students may enroll in the classroom for the following reasons: assisted studies (to help with assignments, time management and organization) , credit recovery (allows students to recover classes that they have failed in the past), and the Missouri Option Program.
