AMI, or Alternate Methods of Instruction, can be used for up to 36 hours of lost or canceled instructional time due to exceptional or emergency circumstances, such as inclement weather closures. (Section 171.033 RSMo)
AMI Activities should include the following:
students will be actively engaged in the learning process in order to count attendance hours for
state aid purposes;
work is completed and returned to the school the day students return to the building; and
teachers are providing instruction and are available to students during the AMI day.
Building Principals have been working with the MCR-II teaching staff to prepare activities for their students in the event we need to use an AMI day. All classwork and tasks for AMI days have been designed with the assumption that students do not have access to computers or Internet at home.
