Dear Valor Parents,
It's hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the first quarter and beginning to prepare for Grammar School assessments and Parent Teacher conferences. More on that to come, but I wanted to take a moment to re-invision you for our model of parent-partnership for discipleship. One of my favorite parts of this job is helping teachers disciple students in a way that addresses not just outward behavior, but the heart and core beliefs of each student. One way we do that is through TRAINING FOR LIFE forms. Instead of contacting you about each and every misstep, Valor decided that dishonor, deception, and defiance were the three areas about which Grammar School parents would be contacted to make you aware of your child's choices, to give you the opportunity to have the important, grace-centered conversations, and to hold your student accountable for his or her actions and attitudes. I encourage you to see the TRAINING FOR LIFE process as more than punitive. It isn't to taint your child's school image or record. The main goal is heart-transformation and partnership with you for your child's growth in wisdom and virtue, made available to us only through the love of Jesus and the power of His Holy Spirit.
Chapter 3 in Habits of the Household by Justin Early has a wonderfully beautiful description of discipline as a reenactment of the gospel. I often turn back to it when I need a fresh vision for my own calling as a parent. May each of us experience Him more and more each day as He trust Him more with our children's hearts.
As always, I have an open door, so please don't hesitate to reach out.
With joy,
Brooke Ramsey

Coach Franklin & Coach Perez are the dream team of the gym! They work so well together, training students in their physical education, having fun, and discipling students all along the way. Be sure to ask your student what their favorite thing about PE is!
