Name and locate the main rivers of the UK with a particular focus on the River Thames.
Investigate the physical features of the River Ouse and its changes over time. Make predictions, collect data to measure its flow and see how the river fits into the wider landscape.
The World
Describe and explain the water cycle.
Describe and explain river formation and label key features of river systems.
Name and locate major rivers of the world with a particular focus on the River Nile.
Study, understand, write about, draw and label key similarities and differences between the River Thames and the River Nile, and their corresponding regions.
Understand how both rivers have historically been used to trade and draw conclusions as to why this changed over time.
Compare different types of maps and understand their varying uses: topographic, ordnance survey, topological, relief and political. Begin to understand when each map type is useful.
