• Study, understand, write about, express opinions about the similarities and differences of a small area of the UK and a small area of a contrasting non-European country (Zambia, Morocco, Madagascar). 

• Understand geographical similarities and differences through studying the human and physical geography of a city in the UK (Brighton) and a city in a non-European country (Lusaka, Zambia; Rabat, Morocco; Antananarivo, Madagascar). 

• Identify the location of hot and cold areas of the world in relation to the Equator and the North and South poles, developing an understanding of how a country’s proximity to the Equator has an impact on its human and physical geography. 

• Use basic geographical vocabulary to refer to the key physical features of the local area, the UK and a contrasting non-European locality: beach, cliff, coast, forest, hill, mountain, sea, ocean, river, valley, vegetation, season and weather.

• Revise the location of the continents and locate specific countries studied (Zambia, Morocco, Madagascar) on globes and world maps or atlases.
