You could create a shared Google Site for students to create an online community together to show that they are working together to make a strong online community. This can also be done by creating a class blog together in SeeSaw and having students contribute to this blog throughout the school year.
You could use collaborative tools such as Google Classroom or Google Docs to encourage students to work collaboratively to engage in a positive online discussion and model how to comment and develop a conversation online. If you have introduced students to using their email accounts, create a group email conversation for them to reply to, with a focus on writing good emails that promote community building.
Using Google Slides, you can put students in small groups to collaboratively create slides about what makes a strong online community
You may want to consider turning on the ability for students to Comment in SeeSaw during this unit so that you can focus on what makes a good comment to promote a positive online community. This could be practiced on paper first with students leaving comments using sticky notes before taking it online
Use apps like Pic Collage or Canva for students to create their Digital Citizenship Pledge poster to share in the classroom. You could have students create videos and save them to Drive and then linked to a QR code that is attached to the poster. When a person scans the poster, they would be taken to a video where the child talks about their posters. You can also use Flipgrid as a tool to capture multiple students sharing their ideas and using the commenting features to demonstrate how to develop a positive community online.
Consider connecting this lesson your your class Essential Agreements at the beginning of the school year.
