The Upcoming Canvas Training Course:

Some of the activities in the Canvas training course are specific to the school computer. You will know which ones they are when you get to them based on the name of the activity and the instructions on the page.  If you have not received our school-issued laptop, skip anything that should be completed on the school computer and return to those activities when our school-issued computer arrives.

Academic Courses in Canvas:

You might see a set of academic courses (e.g., science, math, electives, etc.) in Canvas when the student logs in.  However, it is not time for students to begin their academic courses yet.  This is very important to understand.  Teachers are still preparing their courses for the semester.  Taking a peek or "trying out a lesson" could interfere with the teachers' efforts and might result in an unintended grade.  Please do not open or do anything with academic courses or electives at this time. 

Even though the semester is just starting and you might be anxious for the student begin learning, the current task is to get trained on Canvas in the upcoming "Student Training" (i.e., Canvas training) course.   Canvas training is for students and Learning Coaches.  Completing it will prepare the student and Learning Coach so that everyone is able to use the platform.

So, if you see academic courses when you log in, please do not open them unless you are instructed to do so in the upcoming Student Training course.

During the login process and after you log into the student's Canvas account, you must continue to reference this onboarding course. This course provides detailed navigation instructions to guide you to the Canvas training course so you don't get lost.
