A "pairing" code will link your Canvas Observer account with the student's Canvas account. The code is located in the student's Canvas account. The instructions on this page show you where to locate the code.

In the student's Canvas account:
Click "Account" near the top of the green navigation bar on the left side of the page. (A partial screenshot of the green navigation bar is shown in the screenshot.)
2. Click "Settings" in the pop-out window that appears. (See circled menu item in screenshot.)
3. Click the "Pair with Observer" button. (The button will be on the right side of the page or at the bottom. The location depends on the width of your browser window. See screenshots of both views below. The Pair with Observer button is circled in green.)

4. Save the pairing code that appears in the "Pair with Observer" window opens.
Ideally you will double-click the pairing code to copy it so you can paste it when you need to use it. If you do not double-click and copy the code, write it down carefully and be prepared to type it in the next set of instructions.
CAUTION:
Watch for capital "i"'s and lower case "L"'s because they can look the same --e.g., I and l. Can you tell the difference? (NOTE: The first letter is capital i. The second letter is lower case L.)
