Students in our Gifted and Talented Program are identified according to standards established by Louisiana's Department of Education. They have Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) and are provided services that support their academic and talented requirements.
UVA is committed to meeting the needs of our gifted and talented students. We offer many options to build self-directed learners who are equipped to think critically and creatively in ever-evolving university and workplace environments. Gifted and talented students from elementary to high school grade levels receive services designed to satisfy their learning requirements.
---------
Screening for the Gifted and Talent Program is performed by UVA personnel throughout the school year to determine if a student meets our UVA criteria. Screening occurs throughout the school year.
Following a successful screening, the final stage is an evaluation against Louisiana's standards for a gifted or talented designation. Gifted evaluations occur throughout the school year. Talented evaluations are typically held once per year.
