EQUIPMENT DESIGN
The series of photos above show a problem set required during our Equipment Design. This number, in particular, asked for the dimensions of the legs of a cylindrical tank. To be able to design the legs, several factors were taken into consideration because failure to do so can lead to the collapse of the legs or extra costs. These factors include, but are not limited to, the different y-axis forces and the dead weight of the tank itself to ensure that the minimum and possible maximum weights to be supported by the legs are considered.
PLANT DESIGN
The photo above shows the design of our spray dryer for our plant design project. Spray dryers are commonly used in the dairy industry because they are used to make particle sizes that adhere to the parameters of dairy milk. I, together with Mr. Herrera, designed the spray dryer by first looking at the flow rate, which helped us find the right rotary atomizer to use based on Perry's Chemical Engineering Handbook. The rotary atomizer then became our primary basis.
MOMENTUM TRANSFER
The photos above show our proposed water facility treatment for the Pasig River which is known as a big contributor to plastic pollution. Pasig River is considered one of the most polluted bodies of water, not even just in the Philippines. Our proposed treatment is to reroute all the outcoming streams of water bodies connected to Pasig River. This mitigates the accumulation of wastes in Pasig River which allows its discharge to be clean.
