Spring Concerts
We are excited to announce the dates of our Spring Concerts and Performances for 2024. Please mark your calendars and notify us right away if your child is unable to make the performance so we can plan accordingly.
There are Technical Rehearsals listed below that the students who are performing will also need to attend. The Technical Rehearsals for the JK-5 Performances will happen in the afternoon of the date of their performance.

Spring Band Concert — Thursday, May 23, 2024
6:30–8:30 pm | Michael J Fox Theatre | Doors at 6 pm
Performances By: Band 6 • Band 7 • Band 8 • Wind Ensemble
Students in our UA Bands have been working hard preparing their music and they are thrilled to perform for you!
Tickets:
Adults (18+): $12 (plus applicable box office fees)
Children (ages 4–17): $6 (plus applicable box office fees)
On sale: Eventbrite — Ticket sale starts on April 10 at noon
There is no limit on the number of tickets you can purchase.
Free Childminding at UA (May 23, 5:30pm–9:00pm):
In our experience, younger children have a difficult time sitting through a full performance and it can make things difficult for other families to enjoy their child’s performance. Therefore, children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the audience. Free childminding is available at Urban Academy during the concert.
Please allow extra time to drop off siblings at school, and then travel up to the Michael J Fox Theatre for the performance.
To register for childminding, email oosc@urbanacademy.ca and provide the names and ages of each child. The deadline to register is May 16.
Logistics
Costume Expectations: students are required to wear black dress clothes and pull their hair out of their faces. This includes things like dress pants, dress shirts, skirts or dresses with black tights, black belts, black socks, black dress shoes, etc. Please note that leggings, jeans, rips, logos, sandals, boots, tank tops, faded clothing, and running shoes are not appropriate concert attire. Students without the expected concert attire will not be allowed on stage to perform.
Tech Rehearsal — Thursday, May 23, 2024

Students in Band 6, 7, and 8 will travel to the theatre with teachers for the Tech Rehearsal during the school day and will return to school for regular pick-up.
Students in Wind Ensemble will travel to the theatre with teachers for the Tech Rehearsal and need to be picked up from Michael J Fox Theatre at 3:15pm.
Performance — Thursday, May 23, 2024
Drop students off at 5:45pm at Michael J Fox Theatre.
Students should arrive having already eaten dinner and in their all-black dress clothes and should bring their instruments and music folders.
Doors open at 6:00pm.
Performance starts a 6:30pm and will run until approximately 8:30pm.
