How to determine if you need to request an MRR Extension:
Maximum Residence is 10 semesters for all master's programs and 12 semesters for the PhD program.
The following are not counted towards MRR:
semesters on LOA after 1st Sem AY 22-24 (maximum of 4 semesters)
semesters during the pandemic: from 2nd sem 2019 until 2nd sem 2021
Go to CRS > Curriculum Checklist and check if there is/are "penalty courses" listed at the end.
MRR Extension Request Procedure
Write a letter addressed to the Dean of the School of Statistics requesting for extension of maximum residence. Indicate the number of extensions requested . Note that the number of extensions is not the same as the number of semesters covered by the extension:
1st Extension = 4 semesters
2nd Extension = 4 semesters
3rd and last Extension = 2 semesters
The letter must be endorsed by the Director of Graduate Studies. Please provide sections for endorsement and approval in your letter(s):

Create a proposed program of study (POS) for your remaining semesters only using the Proposed Program of Study Template. Include the following in your proposed POS.
all remaining coursework (for electives, use Elective instead of specific course)
any deficiencies related to disapproved appeals
any additional courses required as “penalty” for going beyond maximum residence (use Additional Elective or Penalty Course). Each extension requires one penalty course that should be taken during the period covered by the extension request.
capstone or final research project (Stat 298, 299, 300, or 400)
For PhD students: indicate when you plan to take the candidacy exam
3. Send your request to the Office of Graduate Studies through this form: Request for MRR Extension. Be ready to upload the following documents:
MRR extension request letter in PDF format, with your signature. Use the following file naming convention: <YOUR LAST NAME> MRR Extension Request
Proposed program of study in MS Word format. Use the following file naming convention: <YOUR LAST NAME> Proposed POS. (If you are submitting the MRR Extension request together with a Readmission from AWOL request, there is no need to reupload your proposed program of study.)
