Qualifications to take the PhD Statistics candidacy exam:
The student must have completed all coursework. Exceptions may be granted to a student who has not completed all their reading and seminar courses, but their plan for completing these subjects must be included in their letter of intent (see list of requirements below).
The average of the student's grades in Stat 301, 302, 303, 311, and 312 is 1.75 or better.

The student must be enrolled in residence or enrolled in any subject during the term of the qualifying or candidacy exam.
The deadline for signifying your intent to take the exams scheduled for this midyear is October 10, 2025 (Friday). You may submit the requirements through this form: Qualifying and Candidacy Exams (google.com)

The results should be available by registration period of the first semester.
What if you do not pass one or more subject areas of the candidacy exam?
The panel will decide on the scope of your re-examination which you need to take within a year of your first exam.
Note that you are only given two attempts to pass the candidacy exams.
