Skip the Subpar Food: Why Sleepy Hollow Refreshments Saves Magic Kingdom's Dining Scene

Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World fails to offer many quality quick service dining options. Is Sleepy Hollow Refreshments the best quick service at Magic Kingdom?
Choosing a favorite quick service dining option at Magic Kingdom can be divisive. Magic Kingdom offers numerous quick service options. However, many of them count as sub-par compared to dining options at other Disney and Universal theme parks.
When discussing the best quick service option at Magic Kingdom with experienced Walt Disney World visitors, several options are commonly mentioned. For example, some people love Columbia Harbour House. We admit that we enjoy the second-floor dining area there. Others speak positively of Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café. We even hear some argue for Pinocchio Village Haus and Friar’s Nook.
Still, based on our most recent experience, we suggest that Sleepy Hollow Refreshments might offer the best quick service dining at Magic Kingdom. During that visit, we tried all four of the food options on the menu offered after breakfast at this location. In addition, Sleepy Hollow Refreshments provides several breakfast items. In fact, some of the lunch and dinner options appear on the breakfast menu as well.

So, what did we have? What did we think of the items we devoured? We ordered the following at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments:
· Hand-dipped Corn Dog - $11.49
· Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken-Waffle Sandwich - $11.59
· Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich - $8.49
· Funnel Cake with Strawberries and Powdered Sugar - $8.29
You can also order a funnel cake at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments without the strawberries for one dollar less. In addition, you can order a side of house-made chips or a turkey leg at this location during certain times of the day.
Hand-dipped Corn Dog
Corn dogs at Walt Disney World in Florida fail to be known for tasting great. This stands in contrast to the excellent corn dogs at Disneyland Resort in California, where the corndogs taste better. Perhaps with the arrival of Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs at Disney’s Boardwalk, the corndog quality might improve at Walt Disney World. Until then, one could easily argue that the best corndog at Walt Disney World comes from Sleepy Hollow Refreshments at Magic Kingdom.
The reason we express confidence with that statement is two-fold. One, the batter on these corndogs tastes far better than other corndogs at Orlando area theme parks. Two, the overall size of the corndog towers over other corndogs served at Orlando area theme parks.
Our group disagreed about how much we liked this corndog. Despite that, we all thought this corndog makes an excellent option to fill a hungry stomach during your exciting day at Magic Kingdom.
Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken-Waffle Sandwich
One of our favorite quick service options at Magic Kingdom is the Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken-Waffle Sandwich. We enjoy the mix of flavors and a touch of kick with our chicken. The menu description tells guests to expect “Broccoli Slaw with a Honey-Sriracha Glaze served with House-made Chips.”
The sauce (or glaze, as Disney calls it) makes this quick service item unique. If you enjoy chicken with a bit of spice added in, this waffle sandwich should work well for you.
The one potential downfall of this quick service item revolves around the preparation. Like many quick service items at Magic Kingdom, the preparation quality varies. This is true with this waffle sandwich. On our most recent trip to Sleepy Hollow Refreshments, we did not enjoy the sandwich as much as usual. We still found it offering good value. Still, we remember it tasting better in previous visits to Sleepy Hollow Refreshments. Even following this experience, we would purchase this quick service item again.
Funnel Cake with Strawberries and Powdered Sugar
Our final two menu items are available all day at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments, including breakfast. Also, you can purchase a standard funnel cake here. We recommend getting the version with strawberries. The fruit at this quick service location tends to taste better than in other locations. Even those of us who do not prefer strawberries find the fruit at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments tasty.
In addition to the strawberries, this comes with whipped cream on top. This makes a filling snack or light meal if you want funnel cake for a meal. You are on vacation, so we will not judge. For those looking for a funnel cake while at Walt Disney World, this makes a better option than the other in-park version sold on the property.
Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich
Even though we enjoyed all the items we ordered at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments, this fruit waffle sandwich stood out as the best. In fairness, you will need to enjoy Nutella for this treat. If you do, then this quick service menu item is well worth your time. This waffle sandwich comes with strawberries, bananas, blueberries, and chocolate hazelnut spread.
Of the four items we ordered, we tried this one last. Thus, it sat around longer than the other three items before being eaten. Still, we found the combination of Nutella and fruit to be wonderful. Even with the items getting a bit soggy based on when we ate them, we agreed that this waffle sandwich tasted great.
During our most recent visit, the portion size of the fruit impressed us. The waffle held up nicely as well. For those looking for a sweet treat, the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich makes an excellent choice.
Conclusion
As mentioned, the Magic Kingdom theme park fails to be known as a great place to eat. However, Sleepy Hollow Refreshments provides a safe place to spend your vacation food budget money. We recommend visiting this place if you are looking for a quick service option. Of course, we suggest mobile ordering since this place will develop a queue for most of the day.
