We have hosted International Students from Kenya, Jamaica, Philippines, Nigeria, China, Algeria, Bahrain, Vietnam, Bahamas, Kuwait, Tanzania, Pakistan, India, The Netherlands, Canada, Germany, Russia and Afghanistan. We also have an excellent relationship with Fulbright Foreign Language Teacher Assistants (FLTAs). We have hosted FLTAs from countries such as India, Kenya, Kuwait, Tunisia, Nigeria, China, Algeria, Bahrain, Tanzania, Russia, and Afghanistan since 2006.

FSU provides New International Student Orientation, Airport Pick-up, Annual Trip to Disney World for International Students during Spring Break, Field Trips to Myrtle Beach, SC, Field Trips to the NC Mountains, Kitty Hawk and several Social Activities and Excursions.

Size and Characteristic of the Student Body and Faculty

Fayetteville State University is a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina. The primary mission of the university is to provide quality education to its students through a basic liberal-arts foundation, specialized professional training, and specific graduate programs. Fayetteville State University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees. Fayetteville State University is the second oldest public institution in North Carolina founded in 1867.

Location

Fayetteville State University is located in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Fayetteville is the sixth largest city in North Carolina. FSU is located approximately ten minutes from Fort Bragg Army Base. Fort Bragg is the largest Army Military Base in the United States. The city’s population is approximately 207,445. Plus, if you’re looking to travel, Fayetteville Regional Airport, Amtrak Railroad Station, and Interstate 95 give you many destination options. Fayetteville is approximately 10 hours North on Interstate 95 from Walt Disney World, 10 hours South on Interstate 95 from New York City, and 5 hours South on Interstate 95 from Washington, D.C.

Academic Offerings

FSU offers 43 Bachelor degrees, 23 Master’s degrees, and 1 Doctorate degree. FSU also has a branch location at the Fort Bragg-Pope AFB Center, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, and Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The university offers evening and weekend programs that meet the needs of students who are working full time or who are military soldiers. Recently, FSU established new Bachelor programs to include undergraduate degrees in Biotechnology, Mass Communication, Forensic Science, Management Information Systems, and Nursing. We will also have a new Master of Science in Criminal Justice program. FSU’s top majors are Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Psychology, and Sociology. FSU requires intermediate language proficiency for all its graduates and provides a major in Spanish and minors in Chinese and French. Our international students enjoy majors such as English and American Literature, Accounting, Computer Science, and Business Administration. The MBA program has a specialization in International Business. Fayetteville State University was cited in USA TODAY as one of 20 colleges out of 700 nationwide that creates a campus culture fostering student success. Currently, FSU is the fifth university in the United States and seventh in the world to have an Advanced Electron Microprobe. This machine is used like a microscope but instead of using light is utilizes electrons to see things more clearly even as small as three nanometers. In addition, this machine allows researchers to magnify things up to 300,000 times. The machine can be used to look at teeth for dentists, ancient pots for archaeologists, paint chips for lawyers and art historians, and samples of bricks and concrete for engineers.

There are approximately 900 employees with 257 full-time faculty members. FSU sits on a beautifully landscaped 92 acres with 40 buildings. There are approximately 6,283 students and 5,586 are undergraduates.
