Rankings

Appalachian State University has made a five-year commitment to global learning, focused on introducing students to different cultures and teaching them how to live and interact in a global society. The commitment is called “Global Learning: A World of Opportunities for Appalachian Students” and is the university’s topic for the Quality Enhancement Plan required by its accrediting agency, the Southern Association for Colleges and Universities.

In U.S. News and World Report’s “2015 America’s Best College’s report,” Appalachian:

    • Ranked 3rd – among top regional public universities in the South
    • Ranked 9th – among best public and private universities in the South
    • Ranked 14th – “Best Value Schools” list for regional universities in the South
    • Is one of 15 schools included in “A Focus on Student Success” category for first-year experience program for freshmen
    • Is included in “A-Plus Schools for B Students” list of 23 southern regional universities.

Appalachian has placed among the top 15 public and private southern universities since the rankings were first published in 1986.

Special Considerations for Exchange Students

Students cannot participate in the online degrees and some of our classes are taught on satellite campuses; these are often education and curriculum courses. There are also a few courses which are not open to exchange students. All other programs are open to international exchange students
