Technical writing and communication are essential in order to efficiently communicate information to patients in a healthcare setting. The way in which messages are communicated from healthcare professionals to their patients play an integral part a healthcare provider-patient relationship. Technical communication relates to every aspect of healthcare, as fostering communication and understanding between patient and practitioner leads to a better healthcare experience. Constructive rhetoric does not just apply to the traditional annual checkup but extends to specialized fields as well. For example, effective technical communication is crucial in communicating public health risks, such as pandemics (Welhausen, 2015). As technical communication becomes more diverse and all-encompassing, considering intercultural contexts is no less than essential. Medical practitioners also face the challenge of informing and consoling those who are in close contact with the patient, when patient’s health debilitates. Focusing on transgender, women, and multicultural healthcare creates a more diverse communication environment in which both the practitioner and their patient can thrive through effective communication. Overall, the importance of technical communication, writing, and rhetoric cannot be understated in the medical field.
