Grading can be tricky! Especially if you are empathizing with the student. Here are some guidelines when it comes to grading:
Grades are only given in 0, half or full credits. There are no in-between grades.
Your grading is due 1 week after the assignment was due. You will receive an email from your team leader if this deadline is not met. If you feel you will have trouble meeting this deadline, please contact your team leader. If you do not know who your team leader is, please contact one of the pro staff members.
If a student reaches out ahead of the due date, you can discuss a reasonable extension and still award them full points. Their grade will be coded with the color red for missing, once you've entered in their points, you can go ahead and reset it to not missing since they've had an extension.
If the student mentions any form of sexual assault, abuse of a vulnerable population, or self harm - please forward the assignment to the lead instructor and cc your team leader.
Assignment is turned in by the deadline AND meets the expectations of the prompt
Assignment contains all components of the prompt (e.g. selfie, reflection, etc.)
Assignment provides thoughtful reflection and demonstrates critical thinking EVEN IF it does not relate to the assignment prompt (sometimes students have something heavy going on and they reflect on that instead of the prompt, and that's ok!)
Assignment is submitted after the deadline
OR
Assignment does not meet the minimum word count requirement
Assignment is not turned in
Assignment is turned in after the deadline without a prior exception from the SL AND does not meet the word count
Assignment includes content that is deemed profane, hostile, or otherwise inappropriate within the scope of the subject matter even if it was turned in on time and met the word count (these assignments may require a meeting with the Lead Instructor)
