Satomi Mitani (三谷聡美) is a PhD student at the Comparative and International Development Education (CIDE) program, Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy and Development (OLPD). She also obtained her master's degree in the same program. She is originally from Tokyo, Japan. Before she came to the US, she worked as an international education professional in Japan. Based on her professional backgrounds, her research interests are study abroad, globalization and social justice in education, college students' identity development and well-being. The geographic area of focus is Japan/ East Asia. 


Satomi wanted to have a community for international students  within CEHD to get together, enhance mutual learning, and advocate our needs at the college level and founded CISC with her peers who have the same passions. She likes traveling, exploring restaurants/cafe/ pastry, and meeting new people.
