The famous Bangladeshi linguist Mohammad Shahidullah in his essay 'Polli Sahitto' said that there is a deep connection between the literature and history as literature captures time. He said this from a saddened heart that the people of Bangladesh are not that much interested in unearthing the history of the country through the study of Charyapada. He wanted more and more people to study the ancient history of Bangladesh and rediscover country's root and life as it were thousands of years ago.
Being the oldest literary work, the Charyapada received relatively less attention from the scholars and that bis clear when someone searches for Charyapada, instead of the actual poems we find more about the background information online.
New readers and scholars need resources with easy access in order to study it more. To address that requirement The Charyapada Project brings all the available resources online with easy access for everyone. This digital version of Charyapada will encourage more scholars and researchers to study more about Bangladesh's history. This project will fill the gap of online resources for everyone throughout the globe. It will also work as online archive and this way Charyapada will be preserved for future generations as well.
Like all other developed country this project will represent Bangladesh and her rich history and literature to the world. This very literary masterpieces are the evidence of a rich and old Bengali culture that was established thousands of years ago. It will hopefully uncover more and more historical evidence and information about Bangladesh's history, culture, life, religion, politics, society, economy, philosophy and more. The project will be considered a success if it encourages new researchers or at least help researchers or scholars as a rich recourse website with all required information in one place.
