Students in ANTH 201 Visualizing Humanity learn about the value of controlling your narrative. By critically observing the problematic ways in which cultural groups have been depicted, objectified and othered by anthropologists and documentary filmmakers, students learn to analyze the power dynamics inherent in these representations.
Capturing the AAP is our final project, in which students showcase the humans that make up the Associate in Arts Program. With this collection of first person stories and portraits, many taken in Wilmington's Rodney Square, we are taking control of our narrative.
Like the flower beds in Rodney Square, the AAP students get overlooked, but when you take the time to get to know them you will see the true beauty that lies within the AAP students and school. -Alejandro Lopez-Basilio
