Graduate Student Housing. Apartments located next to "Science Hill", home to Thimann Labs, Interdisciplinary Sciences Building, Science and Engineering Library, and Physical & Biological Sciences. Each apartment has four single bedrooms, living room, kitchen, dining room, and bathroom.
Family-Student Housing. Unfurnished, two-bedroom, one bathroom apartments, kitchens with electric range and refrigerator, Cable TV via Xfinity On Campus and Internet service included, One parking space per apartment included, Laundry facilities with debit card or credit card-operated washers and dryers, Community Safety Officer services on evenings and weekends, and On-site Child Care and Early Education Center.
Community Rentals. Providing up-to-date rental listings in Santa Cruz and resource information for new renters.
Renter's Workshop. A free, self-paced online course created for UCSC students seeking off-campus housing. After finishing the workshop you receive a Certificate of Completion to show landlords you are a knowledgeable prospective tenant.
A 30-day intensive program for international graduate students focusing on English for Academic Purposes (EAP), academic skills, and cultural orientation. Student come to live on-campus during the program prior to school, which provides a strong foundation to the U.S. classroom environment and university system, in addition to the opportunity to practice English-language mastery.
Students are required to attend if you have not passed the IELTS or TOEFL exam with a score needed for a Teaching Assistantship:
8 overall for the IELTS;
26 for the Speaking TOEFL
As funds allow, Physics pays for students' housing and registration who are required to attend.
The GANAS Doctoral Summer Bridge Program aims to prepare incoming Latinx, POC, first-gen, and low-income background students by providing a week-long program focused on best practices, campus resources, and student strategies to be utilized during their time with UCSC.
Beware of scams and use caution when seeking rentals on Craigslist and Facebook.
International students must complete GLACIER and Payee 204 forms before payments are disbursed.
Department Relocation Supplement. As funding allows, the department will include a relocation supplement in offer letters to help in the cost of housing and rent. This is labeled under "Regents Fellowship," and is disbursed with financial aid.
Graduate Division Housing Supplement. As funding allows, the Division of Graduate Studies awards housing supplements to graduate students as long as there is a shortage of on-campus housing. This is labeled under "Housing Supplement," and is disbursed after the school term begins.
