Please feel free to share your Oral Qualifying Examination materials with your colleagues.
Also, please support each other with setting up coffee and food for these events. Don't leave it up to the beleaguered staff.
All of the necessary forms can be found here, https://www.physics.ucsc.edu/academic-programs/grads/Forms/index.html
First, you form an Oral Qualifying Examination.
Second, you schedule your defense and provide the Title and Abstract so the Department can publicize the event.
Third, you bring two forms to your exam Oral Qualifying Examination Memos and the Dissertation Reading Committee Memo.
Fourth, you pay the $90 ATC fee.
If you ATC within 4 years then for the next two calendar years you get fee remission. Also, a seven year countdown clock starts, and if you don't graduate within seven years then you have to redefend.
