Student Advising
Student Referrals
The Office of Student Experience and Engagement (SEE) has put together a referral checklist for faculty/staff. You will need to be logged in to your UCM account to access it as it is an internal page. To find the document, go to the Faculty/Staff Resource Overview page under Campus Guidance, and click on Student Concerns/Referrals. It should be near the top left of the page.

The link points to a PDF with a table that includes how to report students for everything from not attending class and/or poor performance to observing students with illnesses and/or disabilities to suicide awareness and instances of bullying. The document also includes links to relevant policies and reporting methods, where applicable, as well as information on what happens after you submit a report.
If you have questions about student referrals, please contact the SEE office at 660-543-4114.
Non-Degree-Seeking Students
Non-degree-seeking students do not have an official UCM advisor. Rather, program faculty (including but not limited to their program coordinator or cohort instructor) will be assigned to advise students as needed. Students who enroll in UCM courses and indicate they are degree-seeking should have been assigned an advisor. If a student doesn’t know who their advisor is, please contact your office professional and request their advisor information. You can also review this information on the student's Degree Audit in the "Students" tab within MyCentral (depending on your status with UCM). Your student's advisor’s name(s) and degree program will be listed on the top of the audit, (which also answers the question of whether or not they are degree-seeking.
Note: Non-degree-seeking students are NOT eligible for financial assistance.
Degree-Seeking Students
Degree-seeking student advisors will be based on degree program and level (graduate or undergraduate). Their advisor should be identified at the top of their Degree Audit in MyCentral. Students are all able to access their own degree audit through MyCentral. Adjuncts may or may not be able to access student degree audits depending on their UCM status and may need to contact their office professional for assistance.
Degree Audits
Degree Audit access for students
When helping students access their Degree Audit, have them Log into MyCentral, navigate to the Student Services > Student Home, and select “Central Degree Audit” from the “UCM Student Records” box.
Degree Audit access for faculty
If you need to help a student with or review a student's Degree Audit, log into MyCentral, navigate to the Faculty > Faculty Home, and select “Central Degree Audit” from the "UCM Advisors" box. You will need the student’s 700# to complete this. If you don’t have that option on your Faculty tab, you cannot access Degree Audits. If you need a student's Degree Audit or need to know who a student's advisor is and do not have access, please contact your program coordinator or office professional.
Enrollment Assistance
Often students have questions about enrollment. The CTE program created a few handy guides to help students with enrollments and holds:
Instructions for enrollment can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/ydhtd6eb
Includes information on enrollment dates, prerequisite errors, where to find course lists, and printing schedules
Information about holds can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/ycjtv9dm
Every student gets holds. Some are just resolved before the student realizes they are there.
Commonly asked enrollment questions can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/ybt5tc2f
Includes information on transcripts, paying tuition bills, and enrollment verification
New students and those who have inactive student holds will need to apply for admission before they can be enrolled. Determining which application to use can be confusing. Please refer students to this infographic: Which Application for Admission Should I Use?
