¿Están diciendo la verdad?

One critical part of this research project is where our ideas come from. When I first started researching my topic, so many results came up that it made my head spin. I always thought that if an article is published online then there has to be some truth behind it. Boy am I wrong. We all have different interpretations of everything. As I gather more information on my topic I have to be more aware of the credibility behind these resources. In Effectively and Efficiently Reading the Credibility of Online Sources by Ellen Carillo & Alice Horning I am being introduced to the idea of “lateral reading” and from the reading I believe it can be a tool for this part of my project that needs credible sources. One of the ideas that stood out to me was, “Leave the site in question to explore more about the author of the piece.” (39). I thought it was ideal to trust someone’s title, for example Dr. But it's important to research the author and see if any bias was reflected in their writing. I loved how they used relevant examples like COVID-19 because it is a recent time period everyone experienced and understands the seriousness behind how important it is to avoid being misinformed.
