Lourdes Ceja is an undergraduate student at the University of California, Davis where she is pursuing a degree in political science. Ceja grew up in a lower-class household from a small town called Manteca in Northern California. Growing up in Manteca where a majority of the population was Latino was fundamental for Ceja. Her community showed her the struggles of life but also showed her the meaning of perseverance and happiness within her culture. She attended East Union High School located in her hometown, where she enrolled in AVID, a program that aided first generation students like herself, to have the opportunities to become well-rounded students. With her degree in political science Ceja plans to advocate for the minority as an immigration lawyer.
